Titan offer a number of Steering Rack Assemblies that are custom made to individual requirements. The range extends from single seater through to production car applications.

The 'Standard' range is manufactured from an off the shelf stock casting and machined to suit customer requirements.

Titan also offer a bespoke service to design and manufacture steering rack assemblies to the customers specific requirements for volume production.

Standard Range

1. Fixed Centre

Titans' Primary Steering Rack Assembly. The rack bar and pinion centres are fixed for optimum running of the Pinion.
2. Eccentric

The Eccentric assembly uses an adjustable pinion housing. This is most suited when a change in rack speed is forseen.
3. Offset

An offset assembly is available in both Fixed Centre and Eccentric.

Titan steering racks are assembled from a range of standard components.

Three of these components are customer driven, they are -

1. The Aluminium Housing
Overall length and clamping options are variable.

2. The Rack bar and Pinion
The choice of this is dependent on the speed required.

3. The End fittings
A selection of Titan end joints are available or the rack bar can be machined to the customer requirements.

Aluminium Housing

The Overall dimensions of this are directed by the customer, but considerations must be given to the dimensional constraints of the casting.

Casting of a Fixed Centre Housing

The Customer can choose an overall length and whether to machine the housing to accept Clamps.

A Typical Machined Fixed Centre Housing

The overall length of the housing is defined by the limiting length of the casting , however for an additional cost an extension can be fitted to either end of the housing to achieve the customers desired length.

The casting can be machined to incorporate location diameters for clamps, these are called the inside clamp and the outside clamp positions these can vary from 34.8mm Dia to 41.5mm Dia.

Rack Bar and Pinion

Titan keep in stock various lengths of rack bars gear cut to either 12DP or 14DP. The length and ends are then machined to the customer requirements. There is also a wide range of Pinions available offering 9 speeds as shown below.

End Fittings

There are 3 types of fittings available:

1. Compact Joint
Generally recommended for use on lightweight vehicles. This would generally be for single Seater racing cars.

2. Dauphine Joint
An all purpose joint used on all vehicles, an extension can be fitted to the track rod end to achieve a greater pivot length. Typical use would be Road car, Saloon car racing and single Seater racing.


3. Titan Type Joint
The most robust end joint Titan retail. A limited range of track rod ends are available ex-stock. Suitable for Off road vehicles, Road cars and Saloon racing.

All of the above can be supplied with a Rubber Gaiter fitted.
