Experienced Design Engineer

General Description

To provide Engineering Design expertise to the company to ensure Titan positions itself at the forefront of its market.  To ensure the output from the Design team meets all design criteria and processes, ensuring that the components are optimised for efficient manufacture and assembly.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Produce design schemes/concepts and design specifications that meet customer target criteria and/or design specifications. This will include consideration of component strength and stiffness versus light weighting
  2. Produce detail designs and drawings to BS8888 and to Titan’s design manual using CAD, ensuring drawings are clear, unambiguous and accurate
  3. Checking other design team members drawings for accuracy
  4. Maintain and review the Design procedure and processes
  5. Produce assembly instructions and engineering reports as necessary
  6. Establish and maintain the agreed standard Titan design features library
  7. Research best design and manufacturing techniques and practices
  8. Support the Quality department in diagnosing issues with poor quality and faulty products, and internal and external audits
  9. Support Sales meetings with the customer, offering technical support as required
  10. Prepare technical data for sales literature
  11. Support the preparation of new quotations by producing design specifications and timing plans, highlighting all concerns and risks
  12. Contribute to Titans Quality Management System, ensuring that it continually improves and remains effective
  13. Consider any new opportunities for Titan, including proposing future Titan products
  14. Support the ECN process ensuring all issues are resolved in a timely manner

Person Specification

  1. Engineering Degree qualified, or equivalent experience in a similar area
  2. Experience in using Inventor 3D solid modelling or similar
  3. Having an excellent eye for detail and the ability to work under pressure against often tight deadlines
  4. Strong focus on delivering high quality standards
  5. Professional with a strong work and team ethic, and determination to succeed and continuously improve
  6. Fully skilled CAD designer with relevant job and software knowledge and experience in a production or similar environment
  7. Experience working with castings and forgings, and an awareness of the requirements of Design for Manufacture
  8. Proven track record of successfully delivering full design projects to the customers specification
  9. Design Team management experience and good leadership skills
